When choosing the most appropriate learning platform for your business, pricing will undoubtedly be one of the most important considerations.

This quick and simple guide will provide you with everything you need to know about Podia pricing, the different plans available – mover, shaker and earthquaker – and if Podia is ‘any good’.

Podia pricing plans

Podia has three pricing options. Each comes with a fourteen day trial and a discount if you choose to pay annually rather than monthly which equates to two months free. Poda is cheaper than platforms such a Kajabi, but offers less features.

The following is an overview of the three pricing tiers:

Mover Shaker Earthquaker
Monthly plan $39 / mo $79 / mon $179 / mo
Annual plan $390 / yr $790 / yr $1790 / yr
Annual saving $78 / yr $158 / yr $358 / yr

Podia mover plan

The core features are the same across all of Podia’s plans, with the exception of additional teammates. Particular highlights of the core features are:

  • Unlimited products, customers and sales – allows you to create, host and sell unlimited courses to any number of customers
  • Zero transaction fees – although there are payment processor fees (see section below)
  • Customer support 7 days per week via live chat or email

The following features are also standard across all of Podia’s plans, including the mover plan:

  • Tools to build your own website
  • The option to sell webinars*
  • Email marketing

*Note: with the mover plan this uses YouTube Live integration, whereas you can integrate Zoom on the shaker and earthquaker plans.

In terms of email marketing, while you can have an unlimited number of email subscribers, the monthly email recipients is limited to five thousand on the mover plan. The mover plan also lacks some key features which are included in Podia’s more expensive plans, such as: allowing you to sell memberships and coaching; enabling you to integrate third party tools; including course certificates; enabling the use of affiliate marketing; and allowing you to remove Podia branding.

Podia shaker plan

In addition to the key features available with all of Podia’s plans – as listed in the mover plan above – the shaker plan also includes the following:

  • The option to sell memberships*
  • The option to sell coaching
  • The inclusion of course certificates
  • The use of affiliate marketing
  • The ability to embed ‘buy buttons’ on any of your webpages
  • The ability to integrate third party tools
  • Linked to this, the integration of Zoom (rather than using YouTube live as with the mover plan) for webinars
  • The option to remove Podia branding

*The membership feature is a key advantage of the shaker plan over the mover plan. This allows you to sell memberships, with recurring fees, and create a dedicated membership area with specific content.

The shaker plan also has the added benefit of increasing the limit on the monthly email recipients to fifteen thousand, in comparison to the mover’s limit of five thousand.

Other than this limit on email recipients, albeit higher than the mover limit, the shaker plan offers all the key features available with Podia. However, it doesn’t include the ‘extras’ offered with the earthquaker plan, which include: a dedicated account manager, a personalised onboarding call, a monthly group creator call and team seats.

Podia earthquaker plan

As mentioned above, the shaker plan includes all the key features available with Podia. In addition to these, the earthquaker plan provides ‘extras’, which provide additional support and customer service features for your business. These include:

  • A dedicated account manager – personalised assistance to help with any questions you may have.
  • A personalised onboarding call – a 1:1 video call to assist you during setup.
  • A monthly group creator call – monthly calls to share ‘best practices, advanced tips and strategies’ with other earthquaker creators.

For email marketing, the earthquaker plan also increases the limit on the number of monthly recipients you can have, offering fifty thousand recipients.

Finally, the earthquaker plan includes five ‘team seats’ or teammates, which isn’t available at all on either of the mover or shaker plans.

What percentage does Podia take?

Podia doesn’t take a percentage of your earnings from your sales or charge transaction fees on any of its plans. However, there is a standard transaction fee of 2.9% + 30¢ charged by your payment processor (Stripe or PayPal). This amount can also potentially vary depending on your location, so it is useful to be aware of and factor it into your budgeting.

Is Podia any good?

Podia offers affordable plans with no transaction fees; but pricing alone will not be the only deciding factor when it comes to choosing a learning platform. This section considers the positive elements of Podia and any areas where it is lacking.

Podia provides the tools needed to create and sell your online courses, digital downloads, webinars, coaching and memberships (depending on the plan you pay for). There is also the added benefit of basic email marketing tools – although remember there are limits to the number of recipients you can have – and affiliate marketing and embedded checkout buttons with the shaker and earthquaker plans.

Depending on what plan you choose, there are some limitations on the features available, particularly if using the cheapest plan on offer (the mover plan). Furthermore, the course and site customisation options are limited, in comparison to some other platforms, and you’ll need to use integrated third party tools for things like sales funnelling, if this is needed, across all plans. There is also no phone support available with any Podia plan, but as they offer customer support via email and chat, this is likely to be sufficient for most businesses.

Alternatives to Poda

Generally, Podia offers many positive features as a learning platform. You can find a comparison of Kajabi with some popular alternatives in our blog posts: Podia vs Thinkific, Podia vs Kajabi and Podia vs Teachable.

However, where it is lacking most significantly, as is the case with the majority of standard learning platforms, is its inability to offer a customisable learner experience. This unique feature is available with a high quality adaptive learning platform, such as Godaptive, which allows you to offer your students artificial intelligence (AI) powered, adaptive courses that personalise course content for each individual.

How does it work?

Godaptive’s adaptive learning platform captures data as your learners interact with your course content and automatically reacts to their learning needs. Using AI, it can adapt and personalise your content, providing additional resources and further assessment tools where necessary, to support your users’ individual learning needs.

This optimises the learning environment, resulting in improved learning outcomes, and an increase in student engagement and satisfaction. Furthermore, it supports better user retention, exam results and course completion rates.
